The U Visa protects victims of certain crimes committed in the United States who helped — or are willing to help — law enforcement. A signed certification from an authorized official (Form I-918, Supplement B) is required. After 3 years in U status, you may be eligible to apply for permanent residence.

Which crimes qualify?
Certain crimes listed by law, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, kidnapping, trafficking, extortion and felonious assault, among others. In limited cases, victims of notario or attorney fraud who were coerced into giving false statements may qualify, but a law enforcement certification is required and is not guaranteed. We evaluate it in your free consultation.
Do I need to have reported the crime?
You must have helped, or be willing to help, law enforcement in the investigation or prosecution of the crime, and obtain a certification from the agency. We help you request it.
Can my family be included?
In some cases, certain qualifying family members may be included. We review it in your consultation.
What if I’m afraid to approach the authorities?
