🎙️ In this new episode of the Alejandra Campos Podcast, he told us how he visualized his success, and Dr. Alejandra explained how doing things the right way opens doors in the United States.
A Journey of Discipline and Perseverance
The Alejandra Campos Podcast recently highlighted an incredible story of immigrant resilience and ambition. In this episode, Miguel Ángel Cázares Rodríguez sat down to share his inspiring journey. Arriving from Chihuahua, Mexico, at the age of 14 on a six-month tourist visa, his family decided to stay. Facing a new culture, a new language, and the heavy burden of being undocumented, Miguel Ángel found his footing through discipline.
His high school track coach became a profound mentor, introducing him to long-distance running. This discipline eventually led Miguel Ángel to complete 26 marathons, including the Boston and New York marathons, crossing the finish line as a top runner long before he ever had legal documents in the United States.
Education, Networking, and Taxes
Miguel Ángel emphasized that a lack of legal status should never stop someone from preparing for the future. Despite the constant anxiety of living without a Social Security Number or a driver’s license, he always acted with integrity. He secured an ITIN early on, worked hard, and meticulously filed his taxes every single year.
Dr. Alejandra Campos and Miguel Ángel discussed how crucial it is for immigrants to pay their taxes correctly. Doing so not only opens the doors to the U.S. credit system and business loans but also proves “good moral character” when it is finally time to apply for legal immigration status. Furthermore, he encouraged the immigrant community to overcome their fears, join local Chambers of Commerce, and build professional networks to access critical information and opportunities.
Building Legacies and Reaching Goals
After finally securing his green card through marriage in 2011, Miguel Ángel’s world of possibilities expanded. He entered the banking sector, eventually rising to Vice President of Commercial Lending at Solera National Bank. But his entrepreneurial spirit didn’t stop there. He recently launched Askesis (askesis.me), a platform powered by artificial intelligence designed to help people set, track, and execute their life goals across mind, body, and spirit.
Miguel Ángel’s message to the immigrant community is powerful: Believe in yourself, take action, and remember that it doesn’t matter where you come from—what matters is what you decide to do with your life.
